Student answer (Band 5.0)
i'm totally agreed with idea of buillding a tall apartement blocks in the large cities to econmise an espaces and to provide enough homes to the people in their cities , for exemple for me my own cities is to small and they cannot assure a logment and homes for all the people live in it , for this reasons they have to building a tall build to assure a homes for all the citizens , and econmise an espace to the road , but i think we can have a problem or risk with the tall apartement bloc for exemple if we have an earthquake we most be in danger and can causses a many damage for thev cities but if we dont have we are safely , and also we can having too much noise in the apartement and also perhaps having bad neighbors but it not really sure , but in the contexte the tall build a most addvantages for the state.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall view in favour of tall apartment blocks, and you offer relevant points: they can provide homes, use space efficiently and leave more room for roads. You also acknowledge risks such as earthquakes and noise, which shows some consideration of the issue. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the reasons are mostly listed rather than explained, and the example about your city is difficult to understand and does not show how high-rise housing would meet demand. The conclusion that tall buildings have “most advantages” is asserted without support. The response is 165 words, below the required 250, so there is not enough development. Add specific explanations and examples, and clarify how far you agree while considering alternatives.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable line of thought: it begins with agreement, gives benefits, then mentions possible disadvantages before returning to its overall view. Basic linking expressions such as “for this reasons,” “but” and “also” help signal relationships between points. However, nearly all ideas are placed in one long sentence-like paragraph, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the main argument, supporting examples and counterpoint. Several links are repetitive or unclear, and the shift from earthquake danger to noise and neighbours is abrupt. Organise the response into separate paragraphs and use clear topic sentences. Then connect each reason to an explanation or example, using references such as “this risk” or “another benefit” accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small set of relevant terms, including “tall apartment blocks,” “earthquake,” “noise” and “citizens,” so the main topic is generally identifiable. There are also attempts to express ideas about efficient land use and housing provision. However, the vocabulary range is limited and errors in spelling, word choice and collocation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow, as in “econmise an espaces,” “assure a logment” and “a tall build.” Some phrases are repeated, particularly references to homes and tall buildings, rather than being paraphrased. Build a reliable set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and natural combinations. For example, use “make efficient use of limited land” and “provide sufficient housing” to express your central points more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect several ideas in longer sentences, including a contrast between the benefits of high-rise housing and earthquake risks. This shows an effort to go beyond isolated simple statements. However, the response relies heavily on long, loosely joined structures, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries can make relationships between ideas hard to follow. Examples include “i'm totally agreed,” “they have to building,” and “we most be in danger.” Punctuation is also insufficient, especially where several points are joined with commas. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses using “because,” “although” and “which.” Check subject–verb agreement and verb forms during revision.
