Student answer (Band 5.5)
I believe constructing tall buildings in large city is one of the best way to provide homes for People in Big Cities, Because in city constructing buildings up instead of constructing them wide is very essential to save Plots for other tall buildings.
On one hand, Number of families are living in blocks of tall buildings in a large cities, because of the job they are doing in that city to get more salary to support their families. For instance, in Pakistan cities like, Karachi, lahore and islamabad are most populated because there are much better facilities in these cities than in a village, for example Better Education,More jobs, better medical facilities and it serves Number of opportunities of an individual. Additionally, in karachi specially alot of middleclass families are living in flats for many years because that is their only source of accomadation, their lives mostly believe on the job they do is crucial to support their families. Moreover, The reason to construct these tall buildings is to provide homes to residents, and that is growing with time as people from villages are moving to cities for a better job,Better education facilities and For More advanced medical facilities. Many Real Estate projects related to constructing tall buildings has become very prominent for business nowadays.
On other hand, there are also some consequences formed by constructing tall building in large cities, one of the major problem is traffic casued by excessive population in large cities which leads to several diseases caused by harmful environment By airpollution. For instance, I lived in karachi for 2 weeks in past month and i had very disapointing experience because, i use to live in big home near agriculture land and thats why living in a flat felt very congested to me and i got bored in few days there, additionally the traffic was the main issue because the air was so polluted in karachi due to thousands of vehicles running on a road and i noticed that there were not much varity of trees except few. Another issue that i faced during my trip that there were not enough facilities of public transport in karachi so we had to take auto to go hospital which was very expensive. The Healthcare was extreamly expensive in karachi and no discount was offered in hospitals there was no chance that a poor person could get their patients admited in hospital.
In Conclusion, There are both pros and cons of constructing tall buildings in cities to provide homes to local people and there are many people who are living on a rent in flats and facing problem in paying the rent because it is so costly. Additionally Buying a flat in any tall building is quite convinient to maintain rather buying large house which is very difficult to maintain in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a broadly relevant response and indicate support for tall buildings as a way to house city residents, then acknowledge disadvantages such as congestion and pollution. The examples from Karachi and other Pakistani cities make the discussion more specific. However, the position is not sustained clearly: the conclusion lists advantages and disadvantages without stating how far you agree, and the essay does not directly compare tall apartment blocks with other ways of providing homes. Several points, including the discussion of expensive healthcare and public transport, are only loosely connected to the housing question. To strengthen the response, state your degree of agreement explicitly and develop a smaller number of directly relevant reasons, explaining how high-rise construction increases housing supply and under what conditions it is effective.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting points, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “On one hand,” “On other hand,” and “In Conclusion” help signal the broad direction of the discussion. However, the first body paragraph combines population growth, employment, facilities, accommodation, and real-estate projects, so its central point becomes difficult to follow. The second paragraph also moves from traffic and pollution to personal discomfort, transport, and healthcare without clear links to the main housing argument. Some transitions feel mechanical, and long sentences make relationships between ideas less clear. Group related points more tightly and use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “populated,” “accommodation,” “air pollution,” “public transport,” and “Real Estate projects,” which allows you to discuss urban living and its drawbacks. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “source of accommodation” and “harmful environment.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, for example “accomadation,” “disapointing,” “varity,” and “convinient.” Some phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “their lives mostly believe on the job” and “serves Number of opportunities.” Capitalisation is also inconsistent. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning natural collocations, such as “depend on their jobs” and “offer a range of opportunities,” rather than relying on broad or repeated wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “that,” and you use examples to extend your points. However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. For example, “Number of families are living in blocks … in a large cities” has problems with number and article use, while “one of the major problem is traffic” needs a plural noun after “one of.” Several sentences run on, particularly the account of your Karachi visit, with commas joining multiple complete ideas. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, and divide long sentences into shorter units while retaining some accurate complex structures.
