Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued by some people that building tall apartment will be a suitable solution for homes in urban area. Altough some people disagree with this notion, I completely agree. Not only becuase it will be cheap and secure, but also because it will require less space.
There are multiple benefits associated with build large apartment blocks. Firstly, it will be afforable to buy apartment for homes instead of house. As house are more expensive than apartment. Take an example of China, where 60% people prefered to live in apartment because there are less costly. Thus, more people will abe to buy homes because of less cost.
Secondly, it will be more secure than individuals houses. As only one team is required to look after building, whereas , each house need a separete security. For instance, most of rich people like to stay at the hotels because its safe for them and also there are lot of cameras and guards. Hence, safety is also a important key factor.
Lastly, i will take less space. As we will be building many apartment verifcally so horizontally it will take less space and we can take advantage of the remaing space for other things.
To sum up, I believe that builing tall apartment is a good way to provides homes to maximum people in large urban areas. Not only becuase of its affordability and safety, but also because of more space will be left for the other things to do .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you completely agree that tall apartment blocks can provide homes, and you give three relevant reasons—affordability, security and saving space. The China example also attempts to support your point about cost. However, the ideas are only partly developed: the security comparison with hotels does not clearly show why apartment blocks are safer than individual houses, and the space point is brief. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, which limits the opportunity to explain and support your arguments fully. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or a more directly relevant example, and ensure the response reaches the stated minimum.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, three body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “Lastly,” and a concluding summary. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. However, some links are mechanical, and several sentences beginning with “As” are fragments rather than complete explanations, such as “As house are more expensive than apartment.” The hotel example also follows the security claim without a clear link explaining the comparison. Use complete sentences and make the relationship between each example and its supporting point explicit. Varying the transitions and using clearer references between ideas would make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “urban area,” “apartment blocks,” “security” and “remaining space.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the response less natural. Examples include “apartment for homes,” “a important key factor” and “building many apartment verifcally.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “Altough,” “afforable” and “separete.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they reduce precision. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for housing and urban planning, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex forms, including “Not only … but also …” and a contrast using “whereas,” but the range is limited and many sentences contain errors. For example, “As house are more expensive than apartment” is an incomplete sentence, while “each house need a separete security” has subject–verb agreement and article problems. Other examples include “building tall apartment” and “a important key factor,” where singular and article forms are not controlled. The final sentence, “because of more space will be left,” also has an incorrect clause structure. Practise complete sentence patterns, agreement, articles and plural forms, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
