Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is undeniable that in today's world development is taking place in each part of the world. In this regard, the best way to provide enough homes in big cities is to construct tall apartment blocks. I agree to large extent due to several reasons which will be outlined in the forthcoming fragments with logical conclusion
To commence with, there are many benefits of tall apartments. The first and foremost is high security. To explain, these apartments are mainly constructed in the society in large cities where security is that much enough that they didn't allow any outsider to enter the apartment without permission and checking. Before any entrance security guard do proper checking of each person and their vehicles. As a result, the chances of theft decreases. Secondly, it provide more facilities. To elaborate, the facilities like car washing, garden, city view, enough parking space, gardener and elevator service for tall apartments. These facilities are provided if enough homes is to build tall apartment blocks in large cities. Furthermore, apartments acquire less acres of land to construct. To justify, if there are number of apartment blocks instead of personal bungalow or villas there is less requirement of space. These apartments need less land to be constructed as they are build tall in size rather than large in size.
However, there are also demerits of these apartment blocks. The prime one is that it covers huge costs and are very expensive. To clarify, these apartments are build in between the cities to avail all services near by so, their prices are more as compared to homes. They also covers huge maintenance costs as people who live in these flats they have to pay the huge amount monthly as maintenance charges. Moreover, there is less privacy in these apartments because it is very crowded place like shared garden, lifts and gyms. In addition, there is so much noise pollution due to crowded place and lack of storage facility.
To conclude, although there are numerous advantages of apartment blocks such as various kind of services, highly secured place and less space needed to construct. Yet cons cannot be neglected at any cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. You clearly state your position in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide reasons for the benefits, such as security and space efficiency, the discussion of drawbacks is less detailed and lacks specific examples. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear, logical reasoning. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs. Overall, the response is relevant and covers all parts of the task, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'However' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed. For instance, the transition between the benefits of security and the mention of facilities could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated to improve the overall flow of the text. The paragraphing is appropriate, contributing to a coherent overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'undeniable', 'forthcoming', 'maintenance costs', and 'noise pollution'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'security is that much enough' and 'if enough homes is to build'. Some vocabulary is repetitive, and there is a lack of more sophisticated or academic phrasing that would elevate the essay. While the errors do not impede communication, they indicate a limited range that is sufficient for the task but not yet flexible or precise enough for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the chances of theft decreases', 'these apartments is to build') and incorrect verb forms ('they are build'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some missing commas and awkward phrasing that affect readability. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
