Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent years, it has become increasingly common to debate whether build tall apartment in urban areas is the greatest way to provide enough home. To a large extent I agree that home in a big flat is the best way for living in large cities. This essay will explain why i hold this view.
To begin with one major reason is that Tall apartment buildings require less land than individual houses, allowing more people to live in the same area. This explain that big buildings covers low surface area and there is a space for other facilities such as shops, garden and gym without harming large numbers of nature. For example, In city Pune , there are tall building blocks and around every blocks there is a garden area to protect fresh air. However, In individuals houses it covers large surface area and for other facilities there is a need to cut the grass or trees. As a result, Goverment start giving priority to build a big flats rather than often build individual homes.
Another important reason is that Apartment living helps people build stronger communities because neighbours live close to each other and interact more frequently. In other words living in apartment have plenty of benefits such as people live nearby y and you can not feel that you are alone, people always ready to help eachother, and they spend good quality time and make new friends effortlessly. For instance, In America individual house owner hardly know who lives in their neighbourhood. On the other side people who lives in tall apartment talk with each other daily and celebrate functions and festivals togther. Therefore, living in apartment is advanatgeous that people always around you to help when it is needed.
In conclusion, I firmly agree that build tall apartment blocks in large cities is the best way to provide homes because tall apartment requires less space for the land and people live close to eachother.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding land efficiency and community building are relevant and logically developed. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, and the examples provided (such as the comparison with America) are slightly anecdotal and could be more sophisticated. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced analysis, perhaps acknowledging potential drawbacks of tall apartment blocks, such as infrastructure strain or psychological impacts, to show a more balanced and comprehensive understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'In other words', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors. Referencing is generally clear, but the use of pronouns and linking phrases could be more varied to improve the overall flow. The structure is logical, but the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother to achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'urban areas', 'facilities', and 'neighbourhood'. However, there are frequent errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'build tall apartment' instead of 'building tall apartments' and 'individual houses' instead of 'detached houses'. The range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic synonyms to enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('big buildings covers'), article usage ('the space', 'a space'), and pluralization ('tall apartment' instead of 'tall apartments'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent and occur in almost every sentence. To improve, you should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding verb forms and noun plurals, and practice constructing more complex sentences with greater precision.
