Student answer (Band 6.5)
In modern society, the rise in population brings new demands for housing in large cities, few argue to build tall buildings to provide enough apartments for everyone. In my opinion i agree to this statement to an extent, further explained in the essay.
Firstly, rising ppopulation in large cities brings problem of overcrowding it. For example, mumbai and new york are densely populated cities where their is necessity to build taller apartments to accomodate everyone in the city. Also it helps to manage resources and provude ammenities to everyone through one channel.
Secondly, cities can only accomodate certain number of people or else it needs to be extented to through new spaces cutting down forests and create settlements for humans which can harm our environment. Thus making taller building is indispensible in the modern era.
In my opinion, it suggests that the cure for overpopulation is to build tall apartments though we have limited resources to spent and give access to everyone makes it more difficult for someone to achieve it. A solution for this can be limiting the number of people living in a city and providing enough food and supply to people which can be accomodated in a city and not face situtations like water crises, cloging or transport issues.
In conclusion, building tall houses is not a long term solution, rather its a solution for current needs which can be catered for now but it may create problems in future. Thus this statement is correct for short term gratification, though for long term its not feasible.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, though the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. You provide relevant arguments regarding resource management and environmental protection, but the explanation in the fourth paragraph is slightly contradictory to your initial stance, which weakens the overall argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points consistently reinforce your main position rather than introducing conflicting ideas. While the prompt is addressed, the depth of analysis could be improved by providing more specific examples or logical links between the environmental impact and the necessity of high-rise buildings.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the fourth paragraph where the connection between the 'cure for overpopulation' and the previous argument is disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'indispensable', 'overcrowding', and 'gratification'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'ppopulation', 'accomodate', 'provude', 'ammenities', and 'cloging'. These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise academic collocations to elevate the sophistication of your writing, as the current range is somewhat limited.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('their is necessity') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the text. Focusing on sentence boundary control and basic grammatical accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
