Student answer (Band 6.5)
The better solution to fulfill the demand of houses for people in metropolitan cities is to construct big apartments or flats. I agree with this statement because people will not face any issue related to residence and they can easily afford by sharing with others.
House is the most integral part of human life and they need residence to live. Nowadays in big cities, it is good idea to build various flats for people because in this way they will not fear about a one big house. If they have small family then they can easily adjust in 2 or 3 bedroom apartments. This is because people hire a flat enjoy their life without any tension or stress. For example. in various big cities of world, government construct flats for people to provide them proper and convenient living place.
Moreover, apartments are cost-effective for most of the people. They can easily afford with their life necessities. In fact, most of the time, these apartments are furnished, so one person or a family live with ease. Secondly, in cities population is increasing day by day. That is the reason, every person need a proper house or living place. However, for house you need a lot of space and it is used by just one family. In the case of apartments, in one flat, there are various compartments where students or individuals can share with their roommates. For instance, in Asian countries there are many students who share their rooms and manage their needs.
In conclusion, it is good option to give residence to people by constructing big apartments in cities because it will help them to afford and live easy life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, focusing on affordability and space efficiency. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument about 'sharing with others' is repeated, and the explanation of why apartments are better than houses lacks depth. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments would benefit from more detailed examples or a more nuanced discussion of the trade-offs involved in high-density living to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In fact', and 'In conclusion' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'they will not fear about a one big house', which is confusing. While the overall progression is logical, the use of cohesive devices could be more sophisticated and varied to improve the natural flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There is a reliance on simple, repetitive terms like 'big', 'good', and 'house'. Some word choices are unnatural or inaccurate, such as 'fulfill the demand of houses' (should be 'meet the demand for housing') and 'hire a flat' (usually 'rent'). While the meaning is clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic collocations that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include missing articles ('in cities population is increasing'), incorrect verb forms ('government construct'), and awkward phrasing ('they can easily afford with their life necessities'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. More attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage is required to improve accuracy.
