Student answer (Band 6.5)

As the population is increasing there is limited land in metropolitan city so there is not enough space so there are tall apartments are constructed in the cities. I largely agree with the statement because the tall apartment are good as all the facilities are available at one place.

The primary reason is there limited land in cities so the tall apartments are constructed as they can be constructed in limited space. The public transport can be available at one place. It will also benefit the government and people. They will get all the resources near as the large number of people are staying at one place so the resources will be available near by. The land can be use for parks, school and farming so the apartment is good to provide homes.

Another advantages are that the apartment gives access to many things as there can be parks, track for walking, temple all at one place it can help the people to meet one another and enjoy the time. The people in apartment will also familiar with one another as were are staying in neighbor. So we can talk with them in free time.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that the apartment is good and it will fulfill the demand of the people in metro cities to live. The people can have a good home and they can enjoy with their neighbor. Although high rise in demand present certain challenges, their ability to save land, improve infrastructure and promote sustainable urban growth outweigh the drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While you mention land conservation and community benefits, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, you mention 'public transport' and 'resources' but do not explain how tall buildings specifically facilitate these beyond a general statement. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph contains a well-developed argument with a clear explanation and a supporting example. The conclusion introduces a new point about 'sustainable urban growth' which was not previously discussed; it is better to summarize your main points rather than adding new information at the end.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'The primary reason is' and 'Another advantages are' are used to signal transitions, but the flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed. For example, the transition between discussing land use and community interaction could be smoother. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing, such as 'the apartment is good' (referring to a singular concept rather than the plural 'apartments'). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun references would enhance the overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'things', and 'place' repeatedly. There are also some collocation errors, such as 'the public transport can be available at one place' and 'the people in apartment will also familiar with one another'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning, such as 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', 'infrastructure', or 'communal facilities'. Expanding your range of adjectives and adverbs will also help you express your ideas with more nuance and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the tall apartment are good'), missing articles (e.g., 'in metropolitan city'), and incorrect pluralization (e.g., 'Another advantages'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading your work to correct these small but frequent mistakes, and try to vary your sentence structure by using more complex subordinating conjunctions to connect your ideas more effectively.
