Student answer (Band 6.5)

In today's life all people want to live in city. So, provide enough homes for all people is sometimes difficult. According to this problem, some people think that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. I completely agree with it and in this essay will give relevant reasons for it.

On the one hand, Nowadays all age people prefer to live in urban side mostly, young generation people. Because in city they have enough facilities to live their modern life. For example, cities provide good fancy hotels for food, entertainment, schools, colleges, hospitals and many facilities. Therefore, people prefer to live in cities rather than country sides. Because of over crowd, there are not enough space or homes to live in cities. There fore, apartment is the best option for residence. Because in one tall apartment there are many block and it provide many families to stay.

Furthermore, apartment is easy to access as compare to homes. Also it is affordable to all types of families. Today's modern apartment provides good security service, indoor swimming pool, gym and many services. Through, this we can save space and build more shelters for people. Also, it should be profitable to builders too. Apart from this another reason is that, some people like to live in it because it is easy to manage as it has no surrounding open space like house. Also, young students and people have craze to live in apartments.

In conclusion, in large cities because of more people it is difficult to provide every one to personal house. So, apartment is the best way to manage their needs and smart use of space. Also in big cities people have not enough time for their house. So, apartments are best for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, focusing on space efficiency, affordability, and modern amenities. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument that apartments are 'profitable to builders' is mentioned but not fully explained in the context of solving the housing crisis. The response would benefit from more detailed examples or a deeper exploration of the social or economic implications of high-density living to reach a higher band. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Also' and 'Therefore' at the start of sentences. Some transitions are slightly awkward, such as 'Through, this we can save space'. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. The student relies on basic terms like 'good', 'many', and 'big'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'country sides' instead of 'countryside' and 'provide many families to stay' instead of 'accommodate many families'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary or precise collocations limits the score. To improve, the student should focus on using more academic synonyms and precise terminology related to urban planning and housing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('in city', 'in one tall apartment'), subject-verb agreement ('apartment is easy to access'), and preposition usage. Some sentences are fragmented or lack proper structure, such as 'Because of over crowd, there are not enough space'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence construction would significantly improve the score.
