Student answer (Band 6.0)

In large cities, if people want more stay in homes, so their is not enough space for build huge quantities of home but if build tall apartments blocks so it easy for live in large numbers of family. I fully agree with that, builder should build tall apartments rather than small homes.

Firstly, if builder or government build many apartments in cities so it gives benefit for people like they get their own apartment and they are no requirement to purchase their own land. They purchase apartment is cheaper than ,if they purchase their own land. Sometimes, their are no need to any cost of any land bill. For example, sometimes in large cities land value is more high and some people can not afford land but they can buy apartment, which is less cheaper than home.

Secondly, if their are more apartments build in large cities so it consume less space of overall cities land and government can use this empty space and add other facilities for people, so it give advantages for people and they can use it because sometimes, government have not enough space for build buildings which helpful for people. For example, some cities in, government can not provide facilities like hospital, schools, other facilities for people because lack of land, but if people choose live in apartment rather than home so it give also benefit for both government or people.

In conclusion, If people live in apartments than homes so it give benefits for both people and government and also best way to provide homes for people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, focusing on affordability and land efficiency. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'land value' and 'facilities' is mentioned but not fully explored with specific, nuanced examples. The response stays on topic throughout, but the supporting arguments remain at a basic level, which limits the score. To improve, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations and perhaps consider counter-arguments to create a more balanced and sophisticated discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is often weak due to grammatical errors and repetitive phrasing (e.g., 'if builder or government build... so it gives benefit'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences can feel mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your pronouns and references clearly point back to the intended nouns.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which hinders the expression of more complex ideas. You frequently use basic terms like 'build', 'home', and 'benefit'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'less cheaper' (which is grammatically incorrect and redundant) and 'no requirement to purchase their own land'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to urban planning, such as 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', 'infrastructure', or 'cost-effective'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'their is not enough space', 'builder should build'), article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'if build tall apartments blocks so it easy for live'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the ones attempted are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the use of articles, pluralization, and correct verb forms. Practicing the use of relative clauses and conditional sentences would also help increase your grammatical range.
