Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by arguing in favor of tall apartment blocks as a solution to urban housing shortages. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention benefits like space management and modern amenities, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The position is clear, but the supporting points could be more thoroughly explained with specific examples or more sophisticated reasoning. To improve, focus on expanding each point into a full paragraph with a clear topic sentence, supporting evidence, and a concluding thought that links back to the main argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate (e.g., 'So everyone owing land', 'Even the people get little break'). The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, and the transition between sentences feels abrupt. To improve, work on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly. Ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single central theme to improve the overall logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, with several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'staying problem', 'land owing house', and 'claim' (likely intended as 'calm'). There are also frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'avability', 'swimin', 'propertiy', 'flour'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the reliance on basic vocabulary prevent a higher score. You should focus on learning collocations and using more precise terminology related to urban planning and housing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'cities always had'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'benefical for one self'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. The range of structures is quite limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To reach a higher band, you need to practice using a mix of complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, and pay closer attention to basic grammar rules like articles, prepositions, and verb tenses.
