Student answer (Band 6.5)

The leading approach to provide accommodations in metropolitan cities is to manufacture tall buildings and apartment blocks. I partially agree with this view because this strategy may built enough households, but may also create problems in various factors.

Firstly, there is no denying the fact that building taller apartments provide enough accommodation and living spaces that also assists with required essential and safety measures. Nowadays, taller buildings are in trend, where multiple flats are being manufactured and enhanced according to the person's preferences. All the flat members works as a society helping each other with enough facilities and support to each other. Parking, water and electricity are few of the essential requirements that are instantly provided. Secondly, these society apartments also include facilities like supermarkets, swimming pools and play areas that does not generate a feeling of being exhausted and ignored. For example, if you have a fear of being alone, you could connect with different peoples and be friend with them meeting in clubhouses and other areas of the apartments. Children usually take the benefit by making maximum friends as possible.

On the other hand, living value in such tall apartments is usually highly expensive than expected, making it a concern of a thought for people who cannot afford such expensive prices.

Nowadays, tall buildings are manufacture too instantly that creates hesitation regarding the apartment's foundation and building quality. I agree that shifting to large apartments creates enough space, but is the building is not long lasting then people always have the fear of building collapse. For instance, your investigation gives the report of poor infrastructure quality and unusual facilities then preferring small houses is better rather than risking your life living in apartments nearing to collapse.

In conclusion, I believe that building tall apartment blocks in large cities would provide enough homes, only if the required facilities and proper infrastructure is guaranteed and is approved by the government

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the benefits and drawbacks of tall apartment blocks. The position is clear from the introduction, and the main ideas are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'safety measures' is vague, and the point about 'building quality' could be better supported with more specific examples or logical depth. While the task is addressed, the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher band, often relying on general statements rather than detailed analysis or specific, well-integrated examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'fear of being alone' and 'clubhouses' feels a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'metropolitan', 'infrastructure', and 'accommodations'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'manufacture tall buildings' (instead of 'construct') and 'living value' (instead of 'cost of living'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precise word usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('All the flat members works', 'facilities... that does not generate'), incorrect verb forms ('may built', 'buildings are manufacture'), and awkward sentence construction ('is the building is not long lasting'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the frequency of grammatical errors is noticeable. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb tense usage.
