Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, though the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the benefits of tall buildings for social cohesion, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For example, the point about 'celebrating in one place' is mentioned multiple times without expanding on how this specifically solves the housing crisis. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a distinct, well-supported argument related to urban planning or housing capacity, rather than focusing primarily on social interactions. The conclusion is a bit contradictory, as it suggests both sides are right, which slightly weakens your initial clear stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by mechanical or misused cohesive devices. Phrases like 'By contrasts' and 'In addition' are used, but they do not always connect ideas logically. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between the lack of land and the social benefits of apartments feels abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear progression of thought. To improve, focus on using transition words that accurately reflect the relationship between your ideas, such as 'consequently' for results or 'furthermore' for adding information.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'living way of individuals' instead of 'lifestyle' and 'plenty of public' instead of 'overcrowding'. Some words are used incorrectly, such as 'lace of space' (likely a typo for 'lack'). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'urbanizing' and 'accommodate', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'It contribute', 'It create', 'The large apartments creates'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors, such as unnecessary commas and capitalization (e.g., 'I Majorly Agree'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for common errors like capitalization and article usage. Practicing the construction of complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions (e.g., 'although', 'because', 'which') will help improve your range.
