Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is a point of debate whether to build tall buildings is the good step to provide enough homes. A significant portion of the community welcome the concept, whereas the remaining members oppose the same. I entirely accept this proposal and explain why in this essay.
There are numerous arguments which go along with my personal perspective. The first and most prominent lies in the fact that it is the good initiative to think about the taller buildings' blocks in the large cities, which takes less space to construct enough homes. Nowadays, every individual is migrating to different cities in search of better job option to secure their future. However, the move to big cities and rented apartment to stay there temporarily. As there are lot of jobs opportunities in the developed cities such as in healthcare, retail, and manufacturing sector.
Despite of these opportunities, accommodation plays a crucial role in everyone life if someone is living in another country. For instance, as I am originally from India, there are four major cities Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. Migrants from underdeveloped cities shift to these cities for better job opportunities. Therefore, government should make several policies to take care of migrants for the accommodation and construct tall apartments to provide enough space for them so that they can live there peacefully.
All the above discussed assertion led to the conclusion that the idea of constructing of big apartment blocks is quite initiative. So, in my opinion, it would be wise enough to say to provide enough homes to the residents, there should be tall buildings in the big cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the need for space in large cities, the argument could be strengthened by discussing other benefits of tall buildings, such as infrastructure efficiency or environmental impact, rather than just repeating the need for housing. The examples provided, such as the mention of Indian cities, are relevant but could be more deeply integrated to support the argument for tall buildings specifically, rather than just the general need for housing. To reach a higher band, ensure that every paragraph directly supports your thesis with well-developed reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Despite of these' and 'Therefore', to link ideas. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'All the above discussed assertion led to the conclusion'. Additionally, some sentences lack clear logical flow, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between job opportunities and the specific benefits of tall buildings is a bit disjointed. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'the good step', 'taller buildings' blocks', and 'quite initiative'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited control over collocation and academic style. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas, rather than relying on basic descriptors like 'good' or 'big'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'to build tall buildings is the good step', 'everyone life', and 'constructing of big apartment blocks'. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases (e.g., 'Despite of'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of the essay. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
