Student answer (Band 6.5)
In today's modern era, due to the increasing population density, the issue of providing sufficient homes in urban areas to the public has become hot potato that spreads every nook and corner. Thus, some people believe that the best way to overcome this obstacle is to build tall apartment blocks. I am partially agree with this statement as it has both pros and cons, which I am going to discuss in the upcoming paragraphs.
To commence with, as the population is growing sharply in the cities due to better amenities, the demand of the housing, also, increasing simultaneously. Therefore, by constructing tall apartment blocks governments can deal with this issue efficiently. For instance, in the urban areas, there is always shortage of land for constructing new apartments, hence by building tall house blocks this obstacle can be solved and the increasing demand of homes in the big cities can be solved.
On the other hand, constructing tall buildings has an array of disadvantages for the public. Among these, the major limitation is these tall buildings cost a huge amount of money for construction, which can put high financial pressure on governments, hence it is practically impossible. In addition, tall buildings can be hazardous in natural disasters for human beings. For example, these building won't be survived in earthquakes and floods.
To recapitulate, although it is highly beneficial to cope up with the growing demands of apartments in big cities by constructing tall buildings has a plethora of merits, its limitations are undeniable for the citizens of any nation. Thus, government should plan some crucial programs to deal with this obstacle and they should also provide good amenities in countryside areas for lowering mass migration to urban sectors.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the financial burden of tall buildings and safety concerns, these points are not fully extended with specific evidence or deeper analysis. For example, the claim that tall buildings 'won't be survived in earthquakes' is a broad generalization that lacks nuance. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting arguments are more detailed and logically connected to the main thesis, rather than just stating them briefly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', and 'To recapitulate' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing within paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the repetition of 'this obstacle' and 'tall buildings' makes the flow feel a bit repetitive. Improving the variety of your linking phrases and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus will enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including some idiomatic expressions like 'hot potato' and 'every nook and corner'. However, some word choices are slightly unnatural or imprecise, such as 'tall house blocks' or 'cope up with'. Additionally, there are minor collocation issues. To improve, focus on using more academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate. Avoid informal idioms in an academic essay, as they can detract from the formal tone required for IELTS Task 2.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a good start. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'I am partially agree' (should be 'I partially agree') and 'demand of the housing, also, increasing' (missing auxiliary verb). There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic tense consistency and verb forms.
