Student answer (Band 6.0)

In line with some citizens the perfect way to give enough homes in big cities is that build some tall apartment blocks.

Well, I totally agree with this statement.

Two arguments for agreement and the contrast argument is written below in detail.

First of all, the biggest advantage of building tall apartment blocks is that they will cover less place. If we build one home over another than it will take approximately half area than building each home separately. Let take mu society as example, In my hometown the shortage of houses was very big problem in past. Because my hometown is very small in area. Than we build tall building to provide houses for main citizens and this method is quite helpful.

Moreover, Mostly families in cities are not to big they do not need big houses to live. So, they live in small apartments in tall buildings. In past it was not easy to build tall buildings because on that time there was not enough resources. But today there is a lot of resources and facilities to make large and tall apartments. Let me to give you example of myself, I live alone. I did not need large house to live so. I live in small apartment in tall building.

On the other hand, their is also some disadvantages of tall buildings they are not safe because they are affected more from earthquakes than small buildings.

To sum up, it should be noticed that building tall apartments is perfect way to safe area and to provide homes in large buildings

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention space efficiency and family size, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the example regarding your hometown is vague, and the counter-argument about safety is mentioned but not fully explored or refuted. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with more specific evidence or logical reasoning, ensuring that each paragraph contributes significantly to your overall argument rather than just restating the main point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In line with some citizens' and 'the contrast argument is written below' feel unnatural. Additionally, the transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, such as the shift from the benefits of tall buildings to the counter-argument about safety. To achieve a higher score, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'nevertheless') more naturally to connect your sentences and paragraphs, ensuring a smoother flow of information throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple words like 'big,' 'small,' and 'good' where more precise academic alternatives would be appropriate. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'cover less place' instead of 'occupy less space' and 'main citizens' which is unclear. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, and focus on using more sophisticated adjectives and adverbs to express your ideas with greater precision and variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there is also some disadvantages'), article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'Let me to give you example of myself'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tenses. Practicing the use of complex sentences with correct subordinating conjunctions will also help you demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
