Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is an undeniable fact that tall buildings plays paramount role in people's life in today's contemporary epoch. The best way to provide enough residencies in large cities is to build high rise building. I partially agree with this statement and the reasons of it discussed below.
To commence with the initial reason, it takes less land and provide enough residents in cities which save time of the people. To elaborate this, a lots of families can reside in the buildings which saves land by comparing it with the individual house per family and also saves time and transportation cost. For instance, the most of the people who lived in high rise buildings are very closed to their company which save transportation cost and help them to reach at their workplace faster.
On the other hand, the high rise buildings are very crowded and very hefty in rent. To illustrate this, the individuals which are residing in the centre of the city are get rented with an substantial amount and the most of the families have children which affects the crowd of the building. For example, the individuals residing in the high rise building pay their rent as per the floor they selected, the top floor may rent more than others, it also depended on the view from their floor .
The inexorable discussion on this subject can keep on going, but observing the finer nuance, i would like to espouse my notion that high rise buildings is good as they save time and land but as they are in the city it costs too much than an average rent.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a partial stance. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention land saving and transportation costs, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. The second paragraph regarding rent and crowding is slightly confusing, as it does not clearly link back to whether tall buildings are the 'best' way to provide housing. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a clear, distinct argument that directly supports your position, and provide more detailed explanations rather than general statements. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', and 'To illustrate this'. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logic. For instance, the transition between the benefits of high-rise buildings and the discussion of rent could be smoother. Improving the use of referencing and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one will help achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some more sophisticated terms like 'paramount', 'contemporary epoch', and 'inexorable'. However, there are several issues with word choice and collocation that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'provide enough residents' should be 'accommodate enough residents', and 'affects the crowd' is not a standard collocation. Additionally, there are some repetitive phrases. To improve, focus on using words in their correct context and expanding your range of collocations to sound more natural and precise in an academic setting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'tall buildings plays', 'high rise buildings is good'), article usage (e.g., 'the most of the people'), and prepositional errors (e.g., 'reach at their workplace'). While these errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To reach a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that articles and prepositions are used correctly. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will also be beneficial.
