Student answer (Band 6.0)

The idea of the building tall apartments bocks is being provided in this task, that is pretty interesting.

If we talk about my opinion I do not think so, as I think if we d o developments in the small cities then there would not be the issue of homes in the large cities.

There are many good reasons that I can provide about not developing the tall buildings for residence instead build the architecture in the small cities.

Every problem has its root causes so this lack of homes in the large cities.

One of the major cause is the poverty and lack of facilities in the small cities, so the people of those cities migrates to the large cities with better facilities and future.

If we develop the small cities and improve the education, and healthcare sector we can reduce this migration and eventually this issue of homes in the large cities may eradicate.

Moreover, the major reason is not enough jobs in the small cities and people suffer from the poverty we have to overcome this issue by developing the industries there, and make the strict laws for the minimum wages.

Secondly, I can give the example of the hong kong that is facing this issue of lacking of enough space to reside, they have developed the tall apartments but it proved a short term solution for this issue.

Nowadays, the life in those apartments is no more then like living in the jail.

These are the reasons I think we should not focus on the development of the tall apartments but the facilities in the small cities first.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against tall apartment blocks, suggesting urban decentralization instead. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the argument regarding migration is relevant, it is not fully explored in the context of the prompt's focus on 'large cities'. The example of Hong Kong is a good attempt to support the argument, but the analysis of why tall buildings are a 'short-term solution' remains superficial. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations of how decentralization would practically solve the housing crisis in large cities, rather than just stating it as a general goal.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition 'Moreover' is used, but the connection between the paragraphs is sometimes weak. The flow of ideas within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed, such as the transition from discussing poverty to the Hong Kong example. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'building tall apartments bocks' and 'no more then like living in the jail'. Some word choices are repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'small cities' and 'large cities'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to urban planning and socio-economic issues, and pay closer attention to word forms and standard idiomatic expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people of those cities migrates'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. For instance, 'the hong kong' is incorrect, and there are several run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with accurate conjunctions and relative clauses.
