Student answer (Band 4.5)
Over the past few decades pollution became a significant issue for human life. Some people argued that the government should declare a vehicle-free day in week in which all these private vehicles are banned while the public transport is permitted. This essay will discuss both views before giving my opinion. I believe the advantages are far greater than disadvantages.
On the first hand the primary benefit is that it will help us to reduce pollution which is one of the most dangerous problem for all lives animals and human life. It will not only decrease CO2 but also help us to maintain a balanced life. Moreover, another advantage is that it decrease the number of vehicles which can help us to decline traffic congestion in emergency situation. Finally it can growth economy because of public transportation which can help to government develop new facilities for ordinary people.
On the other hand it also has few disadvantages. Firstly it can reduce the private job and transporting facilities because some people prefer private transportation like A.C. buses and bikes. It can reduce the private facilities which create several problems such as people may not go work on that day because of their travelling situation. Secondly it can create a significant issue in emergency situation which can people face many challenging situation as public transport may not available in every where or every time.
In my opinion advantages are greater than the disadvantages because it help us to reduce the increasing number of vehicles and pollution.
In conclusion it also has few disadvantages which can be reduce from the government development with public transportation. I firmly believe that it can help us to save upcoming generation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks for an opinion on whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing in large cities. However, the essay discusses the implementation of a 'vehicle-free day' to reduce pollution and traffic. Because the student failed to address the actual prompt, the task achievement is severely compromised. While the essay follows a standard structure (introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion) and maintains a consistent position regarding the irrelevant topic, it does not fulfill the requirements of the task. To improve, it is essential to read the prompt carefully and ensure the content directly answers the specific question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the writer uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the first hand', 'Moreover', 'Finally', and 'On the other hand' to transition between ideas. However, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'it can growth economy', where the pronoun 'it' lacks a precise antecedent. Despite the irrelevance of the content, the structure itself is coherent and easy to follow, which prevents a lower score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms like 'advantages', 'disadvantages', 'pollution', and 'vehicles'. There are several instances of incorrect word forms and collocations, such as 'it can growth economy' (should be 'it can grow the economy') and 'not available in every where' (should be 'everywhere'). The range of vocabulary is sufficient to communicate simple ideas, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary and practicing correct word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'pollution became a significant issue' (should be 'has become'), 'a vehicle-free day in week' (should be 'a week'), 'all lives animals and human life' (awkward phrasing), and 'it help us' (should be 'it helps us'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the frequency of errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage is noticeable. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur consistently throughout the text, limiting the score.
