Student answer (Band 5.0)

One of the good idea to mamage sufficiet homes in big cities is to construct a apartment blocks that have a larger number of homes. In this we discuss both aspects about satisfy and unsatisfy.

Firstly, a big apartment blocka is very common in big cities. They require a small land to provide greater number of houses to peoples. Morever, there is a small spaces in cities and also expensive. That's why Government makes plan to cover a population with using small area. It impects on economical growth and environment conservetion, beacause to build separate home a more land is required to build. So, it effects on cultivation land.

On the other hand, living in apartment is very difficult to survive. Because, there is a small area you should manage in it. Further, moving on upper floor is also a big problems but not everyone. Using lift is also impact on electricity cost. So, life in apartments is like a sell. People can not take advantage of garden, as like some elder people need it. Also, moving from upper to lower apartment is a difficult situation for elderly peoples.

In my opinion, life is good in living apartment in major cities. So it save the nature and land. Also some people can not afford a separate house, beacause there arw more expensive than apartment blocks.

Finally, it depends upon peoples choices but apartment life is so easy and affordable in bigger cities. Moslty peoples enjoy it to life in apartments.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the position is somewhat inconsistent; the introduction mentions discussing both sides, but the conclusion leans towards supporting apartment living without fully reconciling the earlier points. While the ideas are relevant, they are often under-developed. For instance, the point about 'economical growth' is mentioned but not explained, and the argument about elderly people is repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should ensure your position is clearly stated in the introduction and consistently maintained throughout the essay, with each point supported by more detailed reasoning or specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', 'In my opinion'), they are occasionally used incorrectly or in a way that feels mechanical. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'In this we discuss both aspects', which does not clearly link to the previous sentence. The transition between the body paragraphs and the conclusion is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'mamage' instead of 'manage', 'sufficiet' instead of 'sufficient', and 'impects' instead of 'impacts'. Some phrases are awkward or unnatural, such as 'life in apartments is like a sell' (likely meaning 'cell') and 'moving on upper floor is also a big problems'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and proofreading for spelling errors. Using a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and housing would also help.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('a apartment blocks', 'it effects on'), incorrect pluralisation ('a big apartment blocka'), and missing articles. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent and occur in almost every sentence. To improve, you should practice constructing more complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions and ensure you are consistent with basic grammar rules like singular/plural agreement and article usage. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for moving up the band scale.
