Student answer (Band 5.5)

Home is a safe place where every person live with freedom. Every person want to build their own house but some are not build own houses due to financial problems. In large cities, the best way to provide enough homes for residents is to build tall apartments blocks. This essay will discuss the agree and disagree of the above statement.

To begin, Home is necessity of humans. Everybody needs their own home for the best survival of life. In the world, there are three class of family exist i.e, upper class, middle class and lower class. All upper class families have their own homes but lower class families don't afford their own houses due to financial crises. Mostly, middle and lower class families buy the homes on rent. There are many apartment blocks in cities. In every apartment block, there are 2 to 4 floors where, on each floor 4 to 5 rooms exist. These apartment blocks are the blest place for those people who want to buy houses on rent. It is the best way to provide enough homes to citizens by build these apartment blocks. It is great benifit for those citizens who spent their life in finacial crises because rent on these apartments is managable.

Sometimes, people face difficulties like privacy disturbance, bill payments and shortage of electric and water supply. But, people compromise with these problems because they have not capability to buy their own home. Regardless of these problems, these apartments provide great benefit of home like safe place.

Overall, i will agree with this statement to provide many homes by build large apartment blocks in large cities. Because home is the first priority and need of all individuals to make their life easy and safe.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments rely on generalizations about social classes and basic needs rather than exploring the complexities of urban planning, infrastructure, or sustainability. The response is somewhat repetitive, focusing primarily on the affordability of rent rather than the broader implications of high-density housing. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or counter-arguments, such as the impact on public transport, community space, or urban sprawl, to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally repetitive (e.g., 'In the world,' 'To begin'). The transition between the benefits of apartment living and the mentioned difficulties (privacy, bills) is abrupt and lacks a sophisticated linking phrase. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall flow would benefit from a wider range of cohesive markers to better connect the sentences and paragraphs logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'good,' 'best,' and 'problems.' You also make several word-choice errors, such as 'blest place' (likely meant 'best') and 'finacial crises' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is limited to common, everyday language, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('every person live,' 'every person want'), missing articles ('in large cities,' 'is necessity of humans'), and incorrect verb forms ('are not build own houses'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that articles and prepositions are used correctly in your sentences.
