Student answer (Band 5.5)
With the rapid increase in population, constructing tall apartment blocks has become the most viable solution to accommodate residents in metropolitan cities. I firmly agree with the idea of building multi-story structure, as they create opportunities for socialisation while simultaneously allowing people to purchase homes at more affordable rates.
On the one hand, people can purchase the apartment at affordable rates because each floors follows the same layout, which eventually lowers the labour and raw material cost. Additionally these structure provides various amenities like swimming pool, basket ball court and gardens for walking. These amenities are useful for the families having children and grandparents. For example, elderly people can come for a walk with their grandchildren and children can play in the garden while enjoying fresh air. Furthermore, apartments provide advanced security for residents, by allowing only approved guest in the society.
On the other hand, it open's an opportunity for the residents to socialise with other people. It gives an individual opportunity to experience different culture and celebrate different festivals. For example, international immigrants can experience Indian culture by interacting with people and participating in their local festival. Along with this, people can also experience various cuisine, both domestic and international. Young people can get inspiration from one cuisine and prepare their own uniques dish consisting of various combination.
Overall, building Tall apartments in cities not only provide homes at affordable rates but also creates an opportunities to talk to other people, to learn about their culture and local cuisine.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding affordability and socialisation are relevant, though the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'socialisation' is supported by examples of cultural exchange, but the link between tall buildings and this social benefit is not fully explored or logically connected. The essay covers all parts of the task, but the ideas could be extended further to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, merely restating the points made in the body paragraphs rather than synthesising them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'Additionally', and 'Furthermore', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, although the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The overall progression of ideas is coherent, but the lack of sophisticated linking devices keeps this at a mid-level band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'metropolitan cities' and 'multi-story structure'. However, there are several word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'each floors follows' (should be 'each floor follows') and 'uniques dish' (should be 'unique dish'). The range is sufficient for communication but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('these structure provides', 'it open's an opportunity'), pluralisation errors ('each floors'), and missing articles. These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistency in verb forms.
