Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but lacks a clear, consistent position. While you mention that building tall apartments is a 'great way' to provide homes, the development of your ideas is limited. For instance, the argument regarding employment is not clearly linked to the construction of apartment blocks, making the connection tenuous. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, and the conclusion introduces a 'partial' stance that contradicts the earlier positive tone. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported argument that directly answers the 'to what extent' aspect of the prompt. Provide specific examples or logical chains of reasoning to strengthen your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is often weak. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'However', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or do not effectively link the sentences. For example, the transition between discussing poverty and employment is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'In case apartment takes lesser space in compare of a big house'. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one. Clearer topic sentences would also help the reader follow your argument more easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple phrases like 'great way', 'big house', and 'have their homes'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'employment crises' (instead of 'unemployment') and 'build of apartment blocks' (instead of 'construction'). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited and does not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('everyone has their choice', 'people suffers'), incorrect preposition usage ('in compare of'), and awkward sentence structures ('In the question it is written or defines that...'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading your work for these common errors will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
