Student answer (Band 5.0)

All over the world and some cities of Pakistan has apartments. But in my opinion I totally disagree with this statement. It is often argued that large cities is to build tall apartments. While some people believe this is beneficial. This essay will explain the reasons for my position.

Overall, the large cities in different areas should be homes not in the apartments. But in different areas has apartments.

One primary reason is that many people does not live to there apartments because there is no security will be provided, because everyone is living in own house and there will be no privacy for their family. On the one hand the houses will be separate is beneficial for their people. Individuals also like to living separate area.

Another significant factor is that the prices will be high and too many people will be living in apartments. The one of the major cons is living apartments is there will be no garden of their house and does not make the play area for their children. On the other hand in separate house you'll make your own style of their structure. You make play area for their children. In houses there cost will be low as compared to there apartments and there will no busy area like apartments. In apartments there will be lift in the building some people will have phobia for the lift they cannot use there lift.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that separate house will be more beneficial for there people. There will be more privacy than the apartments.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. While you mention privacy, security, and the lack of play areas, these points are not fully explored or supported with convincing arguments. The essay lacks depth, and some points, such as the mention of 'lift phobia,' are not relevant to the broader urban planning debate. To improve, you should focus on developing your main arguments with more logical reasoning and specific examples, ensuring that every point directly supports your stance on urban housing solutions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. Transitions between sentences are often mechanical or missing, making the flow disjointed. For example, the shift from discussing security to the cost of houses is abrupt. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'there' and 'in' to start sentences. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear central theme that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. There is a frequent misuse of words, such as 'there' instead of 'their' or 'these,' and 'separate' used as a verb or adjective in ways that do not fit the context. You rely on simple, everyday language, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or collocations. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to urban development, such as 'high-density housing,' 'infrastructure,' or 'residential amenities,' and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many people does not live,' 'large cities is to build'), incorrect pronoun usage, and sentence structure. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic syntax. Complex sentences are attempted but are often faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, you must focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
