Student answer (Band 5.0)

The best method to provide livings in large urban areas is to build tall apartments blocks, renting apartments can help many families that cannot afford to buy house as well that can benefit the environment , I totally agree with that apartment are best way to provide homes in cities.

Nowdays, the cities are crowded as the families from the rural areas started to shift from villages to cities and shelter is the essential factor for livelihood as apartments are best homes to provide the shelter like many households that moved to city may not afford to buy the houses as their income may not allow them to so but getting an apartment can be in their budget also can save the big portions of savings.

Building an tall apartment blocks can save the environment, resources for example creating the house for every two people in an family needs some space for house that only be crated by cutting trees with may cost more than getting a apartment.

on conclusion, I believe that the building tall apartments is the best to save the environment and best for families who cannot afford to buy house or to build one.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the arguments regarding affordability and environmental impact are underdeveloped and repetitive. You mention that apartments save resources but do not explain how or why in sufficient detail. To improve, you must expand your points with specific examples or logical explanations to reach the required length and provide a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You use basic transitions like 'Nowdays' and 'on conclusion', but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical progression. For instance, the second paragraph jumps between rural-to-urban migration and the affordability of apartments without a smooth transition. The use of cohesive devices is limited, and some sentences are run-on, which makes the text feel disjointed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You frequently use words like 'apartments', 'homes', and 'house' without much variation. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'provide livings' instead of 'provide housing' and 'creating the house' instead of 'constructing housing'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of a wider range of vocabulary prevents a higher score. You should focus on learning synonyms and collocations related to urban planning and housing to express your ideas with more precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with article usage ('an tall apartment', 'the cities'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are comma splices or run-on sentences, such as the first sentence of the introduction. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, punctuation, and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Reducing the number of run-on sentences will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
