Student answer (Band 5.5)
To supply enough homes in big cities the perfect way is to build tall apartment buildings. Well, I totally agree with this statement.
Two arguments for agreement and a contrast argument is explained below in detail.
First of all, Not enough homes for citizens is one of main issue in large cities. Tall apartments is best method to overcome this problem. Because building one house over another take less space instead of building house's separately. Because population in large cities is very high. So, They need large area to live. Let me show you example of my own hometown, less number of house's for public was one of big problem in my city in past.
But than we build three main buildings of small apartments to solve this issue. And this method is quite helpful.
Moreover, most of families live in cities are not big. So, they do not need big houses to live as you now those houses which are build separately are very big. So they do not need these type of house. They need small apartments to live. let me show you an example of myself, I live alone and i did not need big house of many rooms. So, I live in small apartment in one of main tall building in our society.
On the other hand their are also some disadvantages of living in tall buildings. These buildings are not safe because they are affected more form earthquakes than small buildings.
To sum up, It should be noted that tall apartment blocks are best way it provide enough homes is large cities but the should be build by strong resources so they would be safe for living

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, such as space efficiency and the suitability of small apartments for modern family sizes. However, the development is somewhat limited. The examples provided, such as the mention of the writer's hometown and personal living situation, are quite brief and lack sufficient detail to fully support the arguments. The counter-argument regarding safety is mentioned but not explored in depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and more sophisticated reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Because' at the start of sentences and the phrase 'let me show you example'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. While there is an overall logical progression, the lack of varied linking words and the somewhat simplistic sentence-to-sentence flow limit the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple terms like 'big', 'small', and 'good'. There are also several errors in word choice and form, such as 'house's' (pluralization error) and 'form' instead of 'from'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate flexibility or precision. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and elevate the tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'Tall apartments is best method'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. The sentence structure is often repetitive, which hinders the flow. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and affect the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
