Student answer (Band 5.0)

I completely agree, apartments are the best way to build many houses in a small space and it should be with proper facilities.

Apartments are the best option in the busy cities, people migrate mostly from the rural to urban for the better lifestyle and particularly for the employment. In that case, within a limited territory people cannot live a peaceful life. In order to prevent congested situation and maintain health. The better option is tall apartments.

Especially, city like Chennai cannot accommodate more people in a small space. Many, people migrate from all over Tamil Nadu and nearby states for employment. In that circumstances the best option to accommodate people is in apartments. Otherwise, people have to live and share many facilities in common, it may lead to diseases and severe health complications.

Especially, people who live on the small houses for example slums and more houses on the streets. Could not lead a healthy life because of unhealthy surrounding and there are no proper facility for the people to live.

Mostly, apartments provide a decent lifestyle with good facilities like parking lot for vehicles, water facilities, park for children and nearby grocery shops. Most of the basic facilities can be get easily.

In conclusion, it is useful for the people and as well for the city to provide many opportunities to elevate the growth of the city ad state. Ans also the apartments helps the people to live a happy life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention urban migration and health benefits, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The response is also under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the development of your ideas. To improve, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or counter-arguments to ensure a more thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is sometimes disjointed. For example, the transition from the discussion of Chennai to the general benefits of apartments is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or used incorrectly, such as starting sentences with 'In that case' or 'In that circumstances'. Paragraphing is present, but the ideas within the paragraphs do not always flow smoothly, making the overall structure feel somewhat mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'best option' and 'good facilities'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'congested situation' instead of 'overcrowding' and 'can be get easily' instead of 'are easily accessible'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary and collocations appropriate for a formal essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'people migrate mostly from the rural to urban for the better lifestyle' (missing nouns/articles), 'In that circumstances' (incorrect preposition/pluralization), and 'the apartments helps' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several sentence fragments, such as 'In order to prevent congested situation and maintain health.' Improving your control over basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement is essential.
