Student answer (Band 5.0)
In big cities like Karachi and Islamabad it is not easy to provide houses, the only way is to construct high buildings with many apartments. I strongly agreed with this statement.
The first reason of being agree is that nowadays many large cities are crowded with several factories and business industries. There is no much space left for the people of cities to build their braod houses. As a result, they are forced to live in small homes which have no more than 3 to 4 rooms. So if they want private rooms for themselves the only option remains is to build a house with many storeys.
Secondly, the people are mostly unemployed in most of big cities. They have less resources to earn income. For example, they barely fulfill their needs of bread and butter. Hoe

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to develop ideas. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the arguments are underdeveloped and the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. To reach a higher band, you must provide a full introduction, two or three well-supported body paragraphs with specific examples, and a clear conclusion. Currently, the response fails to address the prompt fully due to its brevity and lack of completion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay attempts to use basic cohesive devices such as 'The first reason' and 'Secondly', which helps with the logical flow. However, because the response is incomplete and lacks a conclusion, the overall structure is fragmented. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending prevents a coherent progression of ideas. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked smoothly throughout the entire essay, leading to a logical summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'big cities' and 'houses'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'braod houses' (likely a typo for broad or large) and 'bread and butter' (an idiom used slightly out of context here). To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning, such as 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', or 'infrastructure'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The sentence structures are mostly simple, with some errors in subject-verb agreement and phrasing, such as 'The first reason of being agree is that...' and 'There is no much space'. Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete nature of the text makes it difficult to assess your ability to use complex structures effectively. To improve, focus on using a mix of complex sentences with subordinating conjunctions (e.g., 'although', 'because', 'which') and ensure grammatical accuracy in your verb tenses.
