Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of high-rise buildings. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the argument. While the main ideas—space efficiency and financial benefits—are relevant, they are not fully developed or supported with specific examples. The conclusion is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence, which further impacts the overall task completion. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a comprehensive discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. While there are attempts to use cohesive devices, they are often repetitive or used incorrectly, such as the transition 'From financial point of view'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a finished conclusion disrupts the logical flow of the argument. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects smoothly to the next, creating a more cohesive and professional structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'big cities', 'good facilities', and 'betterment'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'heighted building' (should be 'high-rise' or 'tall buildings') and 'provide nest to every human being' (which is unnatural). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban planning and housing, while ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'I am agree' (should be 'I agree'), 'lesser space' (should be 'less space'), and 'everyone get' (should be 'everyone gets'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the incomplete final sentence. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound. Practicing complex sentence structures will also help you demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
