Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the past few year in my city that Bangalore where i have been living since my birth have seen apartment build all across the city as the current population of the bangalore city is estimated to be around 3 crores and area around 9000 sq km .

As its one of the tech capital of india people from different part of india migrate for better employment , so in this increase in migration for employment and better life people would required place to stay but there isnt much land around the tech hub in bangalore for everyone have a house and alot of apartment are basically build around that area.

But due to this there are several other factors that affect the city due to rise in population is pollution the noise and air pollution due to the travel of people across the city .

We have seen similar with problems faced by other big cities such new york in us , tokyo in japan , bejing in china , seoul in south korea that all these cities have one common this that is high population per desnity area

and higher living expense .

Now instead of developing a single city of a country , rather distribute development across cities around bigger cities which can serve the purpose of big cities and also provide housing for people

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you introduce the topic of high-rise apartments in Bangalore, the argument remains underdeveloped. You touch upon the necessity of housing due to migration but do not fully explore the 'extent' to which you agree or disagree with the prompt. The conclusion shifts focus toward decentralization, which is a relevant point but lacks a direct connection to the initial proposition of building tall blocks. To improve, ensure you provide a clear, consistent position and expand on your supporting arguments with more depth and specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, appearing as a series of loosely connected sentences rather than a cohesive argument. There is a lack of logical progression between the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the abrupt transition in the final paragraph. The use of referencing is also weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of ideas. To improve, use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect your thoughts logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'place to stay' and 'big cities' rather than more precise, academic alternatives. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'apartment build all across the city' (should be 'apartments being built') and 'high population per desnity area' (should be 'high population density'). To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to urban planning and sociology, and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'people would required' instead of 'people require', and 'alot of apartment are basically build' instead of 'a lot of apartments are being built'. Sentence structures are largely simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and pluralization.
