Student answer (Band 6.0)
The best method to ensure living houses are common in developed/urban areas is to erect tall structures, this is due to the fact that most people migrate to urban areas where they can acquire greener pastures and by so doing, accommodation might pose a significant threat to this purpose.
Basically, most lands in large cities have offices, factories and industries built on them, that exercise alone limits the number of living houses in such areas and this is why tall structures needed to be built to curb the menace of limited apartments in those places. To this extent, I agree that it is suitable to erect tall houses in developed cities as to ensure every migrant has a place to lay his/her head in search of greener pastures.
I remembered vividly in the year 2020 when I relocated to Uyo, in Akwa Ibom state, Uyo is the capital of the state and as such has different offices and industries situated in many places around the city, but one problem I encountered there was lack of accommodation due to the fact that there were no tall living homes in Uyo, I ended up squatting with a colleague who was lucky enough to have his family house and relatives living there, but I was not comfortable living with them, I later changed my mind and migrated to Port Harcourt and this is how I found myself in this city today.
In conclusion, I agree that tall structures should be built because building large and tall houses for living homes is of utmost importance especially in developing cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide a personal anecdote about Uyo, the argument remains largely focused on personal experience rather than broader societal or urban planning perspectives. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on the advantages (e.g., land efficiency, infrastructure sustainability) and address potential counter-arguments (e.g., social isolation, aesthetic impact) to provide a more balanced and comprehensive discussion. The conclusion is brief and merely restates the position without summarizing the main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'this is due to the fact that' and 'and as such'. Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless'). Referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure lacks the sophisticated cohesion expected at higher levels.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'migrate', 'accommodation', and 'urban areas'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'living houses' (instead of 'residential buildings' or 'housing units') and 'erect tall structures'. The phrase 'greener pastures' is an idiom, but it is used slightly inappropriately in this context. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding informal or repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with comma splices (e.g., '...erect tall structures, this is due to...') and subject-verb agreement. Some sentences are overly long and lack proper punctuation, which affects readability. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over complex sentence forms and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors, ensuring that punctuation is used accurately to separate independent clauses.
