Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is generally observed that in these days it becomes a good way to make big bulidings and apartments in the urban cities for people residing. Although to some extent I endore with this opinion, I believe that the other side can not be neglected.

On the one side, there are plethora of benefits of the tall apartments. Firstly, huge department fix the housing shortage in the urban cities. For instance people get better amenities with the assistance of these apartments because get all facilities near there homes like jobs education department medical departments. In addition to this government support to the public to making advance infrastructure.

On the other hand, for making these huge apartment there is high need of the land so people may harm the environment building these. To cite an example, people cut the trees as a result the temperature increased sharply and it may lead global warming as for this the pollution inclined and people face hazardious quandaries.

A part from this, people may face traffic congestion and over crowed in the cities. And it also increase the noise pollution and disturbance among the people's. As for this in the big cities there are left limited areas for greenery and natural sunlight. Moreover, people rarely interact with each other and they become alone because nobody available in their for the emergency situation.

To conclude, eventhough huge apartments offer housing and amenities to the people's. Howerver, it may lead various issues related to the nature and health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'better amenities' is vague, and the points about environmental impact and social isolation are stated rather than fully explored with specific evidence. While a position is clear, the essay lacks the depth required for a higher band. The ideas are relevant but remain at a general level, and the conclusion is quite brief, merely restating the points without adding a final synthesis or a strong concluding thought.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'In addition to this', and 'On the other hand', but these are often used in a mechanical or repetitive way. There are some issues with referencing and flow; for example, the transition between the environmental impact and the social issues in the third paragraph is abrupt. The use of pronouns and linking phrases is sometimes awkward, which occasionally disrupts the smooth progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices or non-standard collocations, such as 'huge department' instead of 'high-rise buildings', 'pollution inclined' instead of 'pollution increased', and 'hazardious quandaries'. Spelling errors like 'bulidings', 'endore', and 'over crowed' are present. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the frequent errors in word choice prevent the essay from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it also increase'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'nobody available in their for the emergency'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence fragments like 'Howerver, it may lead various issues...'. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and suggest a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms.
