Student answer (Band 5.5)

Due to constant increase in Population and people moving to city I partially agree that building tall apartment is the way to move ahead.

As there is a reason for everyone to move to the large cities, everyone can have their own reason to move to the city, possible reasons can be jobs, university or for more better quality of life.

The main advantage of making tall buildings is It can accommodate many people in a particular building nearly 100s of them, this is better because this can lead to people network more with their neighbours, the commute to their jobs people easy as jobs are usually in the heart of the city leading to less time for travel if no tall apartments are given permission to be build, also the main cruckz of a bussiness ecosystem is that everyone should be able to reach their in time. Also tall buildings can provide number of facilities on different floors which could not have been case if no buildings were allowed to be made. If tall apartment permission are not given, it can lead to rise in demand for real estate due to which Deforestation can happen around the area.

The main drawbacks of tall buildings are they tend to create a lot of pollution while being made, there are various structure failure points which nee to be kept in mind to safeguard the safety of people . The main drawback is you cant have privacy as you are living with 100s of people. Parking issues are very common to arise.

In conclusion Making of tall building can be both profit and loss for the people , but if you see the recent development of Real estate developers are building tall buildings to accommodate more people coming to the cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'networking with neighbours' is not clearly linked to the necessity of tall buildings, and the argument regarding deforestation is mentioned but not fully explained. While a position is stated in the introduction, the conclusion is somewhat vague, stating that tall buildings can be 'both profit and loss' without clearly synthesising the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples and ensure that each point directly supports your overall stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. For example, the frequent use of 'also' and 'the main drawback' makes the flow feel somewhat stilted. Additionally, some sentences lack logical transitions, such as the jump from discussing business ecosystems to the mention of facilities. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between ideas is weak. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'the main cruckz of a bussiness ecosystem' (likely meaning 'crux') and 'if no tall apartments are given permission to be build'. Spelling errors like 'nee' instead of 'need' and 'bussiness' also occur. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'real estate' and 'ecosystem', the overall range is somewhat limited, and the expression is occasionally unnatural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'tall apartment permission are not given'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'to be build'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are run-on or lack necessary articles, such as 'increase in Population' and 'move to city'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
