Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the topic but lacks a clear, consistent position. While the prompt asks to what extent you agree or disagree, the essay provides a list of advantages and disadvantages without a cohesive argument. The ideas are under-developed; for instance, the mention of 'famous actors' living in apartments is irrelevant to the core issue of urban housing. The conclusion contradicts the earlier points, stating that living in an apartment is a 'bad idea' without sufficient justification. To improve, you must state a clear opinion in the introduction and support it with logical, well-explained arguments throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks logical progression. Paragraphing is present but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak. There is a lack of cohesive devices (such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'however') to link ideas, making the text feel like a list of disjointed sentences. Referencing is often unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the flow between the benefits of space-saving and the lifestyle of residents is abrupt. To improve, focus on using transition words to connect your sentences and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, clear main idea.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Basic terms like 'apartment', 'house', and 'big cities' are used repeatedly. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or non-standard phrasing, such as 'weird think' (instead of 'weird thing') and 'regulesence' (which is not a standard English word). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with any precision. To improve, try to learn synonyms and collocations related to urban planning and housing, and focus on using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and missing punctuation. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent (e.g., 'everyone get home', 'apartment is secure place'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the errors in basic grammar (articles, plurals, and verb tenses) are pervasive. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms.
