Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a position, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention both sides of the argument, the reasoning is often unclear or lacks logical depth. For instance, the argument about people preferring houses to avoid maintenance fees is not directly linked to the core issue of urban housing density. The conclusion is somewhat repetitive and does not clearly synthesize your position. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported argument that directly relates to the necessity of tall apartment blocks in large cities.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To embark with' (which is not a standard phrase) and 'In addition, cities also grow in the present'. The progression of ideas between sentences is sometimes disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between 'new generation' and 'profits' is abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words more naturally would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'big', 'good', and 'new', which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are also frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'constructed tall apartment blocks' instead of 'constructing' or 'building', and 'supermall' which is not standard academic terminology. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise, academic vocabulary and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations, such as 'high-density housing' or 'urban infrastructure'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people's live'), incorrect verb forms ('is constructed new big apartment'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often faulty, which limits the clarity of your writing. Focusing on basic sentence accuracy and ensuring correct verb tenses will help you achieve a higher score.
