Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this modern era, high-rise buildings have become important part of cities because it provides a wide range of facilities not only to society but also to the nature and environment. Some people believe tall building and residencies play essential role on society. In my opinion, I totally agree with this view because tall buildings have some kinds of disadvantages but the benefits of them are a significate.
Construction of high-rise buildings are the best way to provide enough homes especially, in large towns. To begin with, people can buy their own house in quite cheap price because the cost of land is distribute between number of people. Additionally, they get various kinds of amities in high-rise buildings. For instance, in big cities namely Mumbai, Surat, Brisbane and many more, the cost of lands are a peck of the level like people cannot afford by their own land especially middle class people.
Furthermore, population is increasing rapidly and more people commute towards towns so that, high-rise buildings can provide a large number of house by using the considerable amount of land. If people may buy their own land and make their house on it, so that after long time the whole city would be crowdy and no more places will available for industrial developments.
On the other hand, increasing construction of high-rise buildings are not only harmful for individuals, but also spread wide range of pollution in environment. During time on construction of tall apartments, varieties of heavy machines and equipment should require so that they produce air pollution which directly affects on people health's and environment.
In conclusion, although tall apartments blocks are harmful for environment, I believe due to increasing the population especially in towns, the advantages of high-rise buildings are more beneficial such as, low-cost houses , land save and convenience for individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of high-rise buildings. The ideas are relevant, such as cost-efficiency and land management, though the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding land distribution is a good point but lacks specific elaboration. The conclusion summarizes the main points effectively. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced examples and ensure that the counter-argument is balanced more effectively against your main position, rather than just listing it as a brief concession.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'during time on construction'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'they' in the second paragraph, which does not clearly link back to a specific noun. Improving the variety and natural flow of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of imprecise word choice and non-standard collocations. For example, 'a peck of the level' is not a standard English idiom, and 'crowdy' is an incorrect form of 'crowded'. Phrases like 'significate' (instead of 'significant') and 'amities' (likely meaning 'amenities') indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. While you successfully communicate your ideas, the range is limited, and the errors in word formation occasionally distract the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Construction of high-rise buildings are', 'cost of lands are') and article usage. There are also issues with word order and preposition use, such as 'affects on people health's'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and pluralization would significantly improve your accuracy.
