Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays majority of individuals wants to live in the cities. Good way to give enough homes in big cities is to construct tall building floors. I totally disagree with the statement because there would be more traffic jams and areas would be congested.
To commence with, there will be more traffic than normal. To explain it, if we construct more floors than capacity of any big city then there will be more cars in city which leads to a traffic jams. As a result people would face delays in everyday work. For example, in China's well developed cities where there are bigger buildings, face two to three hours delay to get home in peak hours.
Moving towards, roads would be congested. To explore it, because of over population than capacity people will start park their cars on road parking. Because of that, areas would be congested and society can be face long waiting in specific areas. For instance, In Melbourne's Flinder street are busiest street of area because of over population and cars. people face plethora of delays in their work and car park.
In conclusion, weather it can be a good to construct taller buildings to give homes and enhance business. however according to me it would be more stressful than a positive development as specific citites are a limited capacity of everything

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against tall apartment blocks. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the argument. While the ideas regarding traffic and congestion are relevant, they are not fully developed. The examples provided, such as the mention of China and Melbourne, are brief and lack the necessary detail to fully support the points made. Because the response is under-length and the arguments remain somewhat superficial, it does not meet the requirements for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes awkward, such as 'To explore it' or 'Moving towards'. The progression of ideas is present but simplistic. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between sentences feels repetitive. To improve, you should focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph flows logically from the topic sentence to the supporting evidence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'big cities', 'more floors', and 'areas would be congested' are used frequently. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'society can be face long waiting' and 'weather it can be a good'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. You should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban planning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'majority of individuals wants' (subject-verb agreement) and 'people will start park their cars' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma usage. The frequency of these errors is noticeable and occasionally makes the text difficult to read. Increasing the variety of sentence structures and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve your score.
