Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding land efficiency and affordability are relevant and well-supported with examples, such as the reference to China's urban planning. However, the development is slightly repetitive; for instance, the points about 'limited land' and 'shared costs' could have been expanded with more nuanced analysis of social or environmental impacts to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit brief and merely restates the introduction rather than synthesising the main points effectively. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To embark with', 'To be more specific', and 'Consequently' are used to guide the reader, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though the link between the final paragraph and the preceding arguments could be more sophisticated. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall structure supports the development of the argument effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate and appropriate for the task. You demonstrate the ability to use topic-specific terms like 'urbanisation', 'populace', and 'sustainable use'. However, there are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'mankind residing in the nations' and 'proliferation in the demand'. While you attempt to use a range of vocabulary, some word choices are repetitive (e.g., 'large buildings', 'housing facilities'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding redundant phrasing to enhance the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'it manage to provide' (subject-verb agreement), 'it not only encourage' (subject-verb agreement), and 'there are myriad of reasons' (missing article). Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent proofreading would significantly improve the accuracy of your complex sentences.
