To commence with, contruction of high rise apartments proffers a plethora of benefits to citizens as well as governments. First and foremost, prominent utizilation of urban land area, due to vertrical development, leading to increased number of housing units. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, presenting a clear position that vertical housing is the most effective solution despite some drawbacks. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the mention of land utilization and amenities. However, some arguments are slightly under-developed; for instance, the link between high-rise living and 'degradation of lifestyle' is mentioned but could be supported with more specific reasoning. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and provides a recommendation for government oversight, which strengthens the overall task response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand' are used to link ideas effectively. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the use of 'this' to refer to broad concepts. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the clarity of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some flexibility. There is an attempt to use less common items like 'contemporary era', 'vertical housing development', and 'stringent rules'. However, there are several spelling errors ('obften', 'contruction', 'proffers', 'appartments', 'mereits') and minor word choice inaccuracies ('surged number', 'seperate house'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and attention to collocations to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('the high-rise apartment buildings'), subject-verb agreement issues ('this appartments buildings provides'), and awkward phrasing ('I agree with this notion at large extent'). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the response. To improve, the student should focus on consistent verb conjugation and the correct use of articles, as these errors occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score.
