Student answer (Band 5.5)
In urban areas, the population is rising rapidly due to unemployment in the rural areas. Individuals are migrating to urban areas because of lack of opportunities.
Population in urban areas is progressively increasing. In contemporary society, the best way to construct enough homes in large cities for considerable population.
The best way is to provide enough homes in large urban areas is to build tall apartment blocks. The construction of tall apartment blocks gives numerous houses. These tall apartments fulfill the need of increasing population in urban areas. The construction of tall apartments is increasing urbanization which give rise to numerous challenges. For example, when population escalate in urban areas, the problem of water increases which creates multiple problem in urban life and also the shortage of electricity which is also a considerable issue for urban areas.
But, I believe that the tall apartment should not be made. Urbanization lead to several issues. I am not agree with this statement. I suggest that people should not migrate to urban areas, if all people will shift to cities then all agricultural land will be converted in to urban land. Agriculture plays a substantial role in the economy of every country to control the shortage of food.
These apartments are reducing the food for urban people. Therefore, people should not migrate to urban areas, and individual should live in village to produce more yield to give efficient nutritions to the country. by doing so, the need for tall apartments will drop and the agricultural land will be safe.
In conclusion, apartments are also essential for individuals to live but food is also significant for life. So, everybody should contribute to control the urbanization.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt but struggles with focus. While you take a clear position against the statement, the argument shifts away from the feasibility of tall apartment blocks and focuses heavily on the broader issue of rural-to-urban migration and food security. This is a slight deviation from the core task, which asks about the best way to provide housing in cities. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, and the link between tall buildings and food shortages is not fully developed or logical. To improve, ensure your supporting points directly address the housing solution proposed in the prompt rather than focusing on the causes of urbanization.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'For example' and 'In conclusion', but the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt. For instance, the jump from discussing electricity shortages to the argument against migration lacks a smooth logical bridge. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'urban areas' and 'tall apartment blocks', which appear multiple times. There are also some minor collocation errors, such as 'I am not agree' (should be 'I do not agree') and 'give efficient nutritions' (should be 'provide adequate nutrition'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and academic collocations to express your ideas more naturally and precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('population escalate', 'apartments is increasing') and article usage errors ('in to urban land'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles. Attempting more complex sentence structures is good, but ensure you have a firm grasp of the underlying grammar rules first.
