Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the current society, the community is polarized in two groups almost equally regarding idea that the vertical buildings are the best method to give shelter to many individuals in metropolis cities. A school of thought favors the statement. However, others go against it. This essay would shed light on both aspects. As far as i am concerned, I agree with the statement but we should aware of the material being used to make it tall.
Elaborating on the mindset of those individuals who are in favor of first stated idea. First and foremost, building vertical apartments have the most significant contributions is to accommodate large number of people. Making huge buildings have led to the developments of saving millions of acres which has made people life so convenient. Further, saved land being used in forestation to fight with environmental issues. For example, In New Delhi, Vertical buildings saved the huge land through which the city could not be expanded, therefore, their outer suburbs are doing well in agriculture and forestation which reduces the ecological degradation. Therefore, it's really conducive to solve these natural problems.
Furthermore, Vertical buildings has greatly improved the living standard through technical innovations. It is easy to supply of water in that particular space where huge apartment blocks built up. In this way, energy consumption is extremely less which can further be used in any other purpose. A survey was conducted in the United States has it's finding published in renowned journal that 70 percent of people who are living in tall apartments are not suffering with the issue of water production. Hence, these buildings are essential to fight with such problems.
On the other hand, some individuals have their own perspective, they think that making huge buildings are not safe in natural disastrous. it's so dangerous to live in these buildings in the circumstances of earthquake, tornedo and Tsunami which could claim so many lives. For Instance, In the recent months, earthquake in the Venezuela claimed a lot lives as all were living in vertical buildings. So these buildings should ultimately contribute to the welfare and progress of society.
Pondering over the topic, although there could be danger to live in these buildings in the situation of natural calamity, I believe that it could be updated with material being used to make it so that these buildings should become earth quake resistant.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks and clearly states a position. The ideas are relevant, such as land conservation and safety concerns. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the argument regarding 'water production' in the third paragraph is unclear and lacks logical connection to the topic of housing. While the position is maintained, the supporting evidence could be more precise. The essay covers all parts of the task, but the depth of analysis is limited in places, preventing it from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Elaborating on the mindset of those individuals who are in favor of first stated idea'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally imprecise, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'ecological degradation' and 'conducive', which is positive. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'water production' instead of 'water supply' or 'water access', and 'natural disastrous' instead of 'natural disasters'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Vertical buildings has', 'huge buildings are not safe in natural disastrous') and article usage ('the community is polarized in two groups'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some issues with capitalization and sentence boundaries. While the errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To improve, the student should focus on consistent subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles.
