Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is widely argued that skyscrapers are the best choice to have sufficient houses for residents and it give us chance to utilize further land for other purposes like farming. I, totally agreed with the given statement with many reasons which will be discussed in the next coming paragraph.
Most of the countries' current issue is the burst of the population, people's number is increasing day by day in each corner of world and they occupied majority of places for residency in cities. Consequently, in return fever land is available for other important things for example building hospitals, schools and other important infrastructure of nation due less availability of space. Thus, it should be required to build more floor buildings in a space which covered only a single house.
Along with this, availability land for farming is decreasing day by day, as people are making big and spacious home for their comfort only with even a small family and covered vast of space, which could be utilized for many by building flats. Moreover, food is the majority need of human being, since, it is important to produce eatables rather than just have a cozy and big house. For example, Korea has dedicated a particular portion for land just agriculture by building tall apartment blocks for society in urban area.
To conclude, I agree that to make enough homes, it needs to build tall flats in cities. it's not only providing residency but also offers other infrastructure as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the essay is slightly under the 250-word minimum, which impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments regarding population growth and land use are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The example provided about Korea is a positive attempt to support the argument, but the overall development is limited by the brevity of the response. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides more detailed explanations and perhaps a second supporting example to fully explore the implications of high-density housing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Consequently', 'Thus', 'Along with this', and 'To conclude' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the phrase 'in return fever land is available'. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall flow could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive devices to connect ideas more naturally rather than relying on standard linking words at the start of every sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'burst of the population' (instead of 'population explosion'), 'fever land' (likely a typo for 'fewer'), and 'eatables' (which is less common in this context than 'food supplies'). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and the student relies on basic descriptors like 'big and spacious' or 'important things'. Expanding the range to include more academic collocations would significantly improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'I, totally agreed' (incorrect comma usage and tense), 'people's number is increasing' (unnatural phrasing), and 'it needs to build' (incorrect subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the student attempts complex sentences, the control over these structures is inconsistent. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and refining sentence structure to reduce the frequency of errors.
