Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, people loves to live in big apartment. However the companies in the larger cities are constructing large building block apartment for the individual. Constructing huge apartment blocks are better option for the individual. I am totally agree with this point, we will discuss in the essay.

On the one hand, people choose to live in the apartment for security reasons also. In large cities there are so many big companies with huge number of employe, however the companies need stay for their employe. The builder construct tall apartment blocks, because it occupies small area to construct tall apartment. Large number of people can gather into a small area which can make great bonding between the individual.

On the other hand, if the large apartment blocks are not in the large cities that will increase more disturbance in the city. The traffic will affect the life of the people. government should take a good initiative for this, however it can more beneficial for the individual. excessive construction of tall buildings can create several problems. A large concentration of people in one area may put pressure in public transport, roads, water supply and other essential service. Moreover, some people pressfer to live in a open house with a garden into it which can provide better quality of life.

In conclusion, making large building blocks can be a good thing for the person to live in a smaller area. However, i believe that a combination if high rise buildings, housing and better infrastructure would be more effective for long term.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a position, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention benefits like space efficiency and social bonding, the arguments are somewhat superficial. The second paragraph introduces conflicting points about traffic and infrastructure, which makes your position feel slightly contradictory rather than balanced. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a clear, well-supported argument that directly reinforces your stance. The conclusion attempts to provide a nuanced view, but the essay would benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis of why tall buildings are the 'best' or 'not the best' solution for urban housing needs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used, but the transition between ideas within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. Some sentences, such as 'I am totally agree with this point, we will discuss in the essay', are unnecessary and do not contribute to the logical flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression of ideas could be smoother if you used a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'large apartment blocks' and 'individual'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'people loves' (should be 'people love') and 'pressfer to live in a open house'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, and ensure that your word forms are accurate. Your current range is sufficient to convey basic meaning but lacks the flexibility needed for more complex discussion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people loves', 'builder construct'), article usage ('in a open house'), and prepositional errors ('pressure in public transport'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these recurring errors suggest a lack of control over more complex grammatical structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex, multi-clause sentences.
