Student answer (Band 6.0)
The optimal solution to provide enough homes in urban areas is to build tall apartments blocks. I strongly agree with this statement because now a days population in the cities is increasing dramatically along with people from rural areas shifting to cities and getting home is one of the basic right of people.
Population in cities is increasing day by day so there must be enough facilities to accommodate the people. Providing homes is one of the basic responsibilities of the state which is getting taxes from people. The best solution to provide a massive population is to build tall apartment blocks instead of making separate homes. In this way in a 1000 square feet area rather than having one or two homes we can have twenty to thirty thousand homes. For instance there are massive and tall buildings in Hangzhou, china and newyork usa. These cities have more population than some of the whole countries in Europe and they are accommodating these by providing apartments in buildings to their people. building these tall apartment blocks will also boost the economy of the country and will provide more jobs associated with construction like civil engineers, labors, architectures, and contractors. This will also increase the production of manufacturing industry like cement factories, bricks, glass manufacturing and many more.
In conclusion, it is the best way to build tall apartment blocks to provide enough homes in large cities as compare to building separate homes for every family as it will reduce the area covered by separate homes and will accommodate the population more efficiently. In addition to this the state or the governing body should ensure that best facilities are available for every apartment block and a safety exist is must at every level of the block.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding urban population density and economic benefits are relevant and well-supported with examples like Hangzhou and New York. However, the development is somewhat limited; the essay could be improved by discussing potential drawbacks of tall apartment blocks, such as social isolation or infrastructure strain, to provide a more balanced and nuanced perspective. While the ideas are relevant, they remain somewhat superficial, preventing the essay from reaching the highest band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and adds a relevant suggestion regarding safety.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, body, and conclusion. Ideas progress in a sensible manner. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For instance', 'In this way', and 'In addition to this', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, although the flow between the economic benefits and the conclusion could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main arguments, contributing to the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'optimal solution' and 'accommodate'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'safety exist' instead of 'safety exit' and 'labors' instead of 'laborers'. The range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Spelling errors like 'newyork' and 'usa' (which should be capitalized) also detract from the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'now a days' (nowadays), 'getting taxes from people' (collecting taxes), and 'as compare to' (compared to). Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with capitalization of proper nouns and missing commas in complex sentences. While the student attempts complex structures, the control is not consistent, and errors are noticeable throughout the text, though they do not impede communication.
