Student answer (Band 6.0)
Accommodation is the major issue in today's time because of the various factors which includes population growth and many more. There is a suggestion regarding the problem is providing enough living facility in metro cities by building tall apartment blocks so that people lives comfortably. In my opinion , I do agree it to a larger extent. Although there is some negative points to be noticed but advantages outweigh the negative points.
The essay will anticipate the ideas and facts regarding the agreement on the tall building blocks. Firstly, population is increasing in the urban areas leaving no space for the accommodation for the people to live peacefully . Therefore, it would be beneficial to build tall apartment blocks because it will take less area compare to the bungalow and able to provide more housing facility to large number of people. For example, metro cities such as Mumbai and Bengaluru where people can find more apartment blocks than particular cottages additionally it helps people to live comfortably over there because of rising population and the price of land, thus tall apartment blocks help in that crucial time.
Moreover, people can meet different types of people and learn different cultures while living in tall apartments. If there are more apartments than land which is remaining can be used for building different purposes like schools, garden, hospitals or shopping complexes. For instance, in many places of urban area where apartment blocks are in majority there is a number of schools , hospitals and shopping complex.
Conversely, residents of apartments are not able to enjoy there personal space as it easily disturbs the people living there. It does not have facility and atmosphere like it is there in villas. Space is also comparatively less than in the bungalows.
To conclude, building a tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide enough homes in large cities because of its benefits although it have some negative points but it cannot outreach its advantages

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding land efficiency and urban planning are relevant and supported by examples like Mumbai and Bengaluru. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial; for instance, the point about social interaction in apartments is mentioned but not fully explored. The counter-argument is present but lacks depth, as it focuses on personal space without fully engaging with the complexity of urban living. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand your supporting points with more detailed analysis rather than listing them briefly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Conversely' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'it does not have facility' in the fourth paragraph, where the pronoun 'it' lacks a specific antecedent. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the connection between sentences could be more sophisticated to improve the overall flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'metro cities', 'accommodation', and 'urban areas'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'outreach its advantages' (should be 'outweigh') and 'living facility' (should be 'living facilities'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the message but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with article usage ('the urban area'), subject-verb agreement ('it have some negative points'), and pluralization ('building different purposes'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article consistency would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
