Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 216 words long and ends abruptly mid-sentence. This significantly impacts the development of the argument. While you clearly state your position in the introduction and begin to develop relevant ideas regarding amenities and land conservation, the essay is incomplete. The conclusion is missing, and the second body paragraph is cut off, preventing a full exploration of the topic. To improve, you must ensure you complete the task by providing a full essay structure, including a clear conclusion that summarises your main points and restates your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a basic level of logical organisation. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with' and 'Moving further' to signal the progression of ideas. However, because the essay is incomplete, the overall flow is disrupted. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is unfinished, which hinders the logical development of your argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your ideas are fully developed before moving to the next point. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring consistent referencing would also improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary era', 'metropolitan', and 'amenities'. However, there are some issues with collocation and word choice, such as 'retail sector has started building' (which is slightly inaccurate in this context) and 'results in the increased demand of residing areas' (should be 'demand for residential areas'). The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focus on learning common collocations and using more academic phrasing to enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'most of the people migrating metropolitan cities' (missing 'to') and 'which has been provided' (should be 'which are provided'). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as the inconsistent spacing around commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses. Proofreading your work for minor slips in tense and prepositions will also help you achieve a higher score.
