Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the position is not consistently maintained; while you state you 'partially agree', the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the points about 'fresh air' and 'sunrises' are not directly relevant to the core issue of housing density. The arguments regarding safety and land usage are relevant but lack sufficient depth or specific examples to reach a higher band. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a clear, well-supported argument that directly relates to the prompt's central theme of urban housing solutions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'Moreover' and 'In addition' at the start of sentences. Some transitions are confusing, such as 'In contrast, there some drawbacks not having own land or private area and sometimes mix', which lacks a clear connection to the previous sentence. The progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, making it difficult to follow the logical flow of your argument. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'mix public are at more amount' and 'beneficts'. You rely on basic vocabulary, and some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'sunrises are at best reflection'. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to urban planning and housing, and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling to ensure your meaning is conveyed clearly and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'population are increased', 'less space are need'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper grammatical control, such as 'Building tall apartment are having several beneficts'. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To reach a higher band, you must focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and reducing the number of errors that occur in almost every sentence.
