Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many people believe that building tall apartments and buildings are the best way to provide homes or places to live in large cities .In my opinion, I believe that this is not only a solution , this can be a good option But then are so many other options are also available such as B Homes' basements on rent as a partion and room on rent will also be an alternative.

To commence with the advantages, of building tall apartments is a great choice as individual can buy their own apartment of their choice as apartments are also very spacious . People do not need to invest every month by paying rent. Moreover, By building one single building their are numbers of apartment which will be easier for everyone and the owner can also generate a good income.

In contrast, although apartments is a good option, but government cannot build buildings all over the city as It acquires a lot of investment

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 162 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you present a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The essay stops abruptly after the second body paragraph, leaving the conclusion missing. To improve, you must expand on your points by explaining the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments and ensure you provide a clear, balanced structure that includes an introduction, fully developed body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses some basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with' and 'Moreover', but the flow is often disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete, which hinders the overall logical progression. The connection between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the lack of a concluding paragraph makes the essay feel unfinished. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details that lead naturally to the next point.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good option' and 'great choice'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'B Homes' basements on rent as a partion' and 'It acquires a lot of investment', which are not natural English expressions. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, such as 'high-density residential developments' or 'financial constraints', and avoid repeating the same simple adjectives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('building tall apartments... are', 'there are numbers of apartment'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Ensure that you proofread your work to catch minor slips, and practice using complex sentences (e.g., using 'although', 'while', or 'because') to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
