Student answer (Band 6.0)

Apartment blocks are a smart way of achieving high residential sectors in a busy metropolitian city. I completely agree with the given statement and in the following paragraphs i'll illustrate why I believe apartment blocks are the future of cities.

The number one and foremost reason is that large cities attract people like bees attract honey. The facilities provided in the cities are a no match to other rural areas and job market in the cities compared to other areas is very dense and higly competitive. People want to get the best amenities they can receive while remaining in the bustelling city. Tall apartment blocks will provide multiple families with a decent lifestyle in less cost as compared to a separate house and more housing opportunities will be available to larger crowds. The major advantage of apartments is that it is taken of care by a single commodity. Usually these blocks become a community space which is well maintained by the staff of the society and people also maintain good terms with each other which fosters humbleness and kindness in people. Families learn to rise and fall together .

My second reason is the land itself. Cities have become all hard cover with no green patches to breathe life in them. We need to provide green areas in cities as much as possible to cope up with the pollution and noise issues. Also, for example, with apartments we can provide 20 families a decent lifestyle in a 20m by 40m block but if we built single homes that would only cater 2 or maximum 3 familes.

Not only are we resolving the land issue but also, we are giving life to dear earth and its people. Introducing a lifestyle of grateful communities and nurturing homes will be achieved with the help of apartment blocks approval. I would highly recommend the governement to innitiate plans for converting single module house to a high rise apartment to cater to the issues.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have provided two main arguments—efficiency of space and community benefits—which are relevant and supported by examples. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'green patches' is a strong point, but it could have been expanded further to explain how high-rise living specifically facilitates urban planning beyond just density. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have better summarised the main points to reinforce your stance. Overall, the response is well-focused, but more depth in the supporting arguments would elevate the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'The number one and foremost reason' and 'Not only are we resolving... but also', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be smoother; for example, the transition between the benefits of community maintenance and the environmental argument in the second paragraph is a bit abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words would improve the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'metropolitan', 'bustling', and 'competitive'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural collocations or word choices, such as 'taken of care by a single commodity' (likely meaning 'managed by a single entity') and 'hard cover' (referring to concrete/urban sprawl). Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'metropolitian', 'bustelling', 'innitiate', and 'governement'. While these do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a broader range of precise academic vocabulary to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'people like bees attract honey' (a slightly awkward simile), 'in less cost' (should be 'at a lower cost'), and 'if we built single homes that would only cater 2 or maximum 3 familes' (tense inconsistency and missing articles). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some issues with lowercase 'i' and missing commas. While your meaning is always clear, the frequency of these minor errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage would be beneficial.
