Student answer (Band 6.0)

A good home is the basic and necessary need for a convenient living. To reach up-to the housing need the greatest way is to build high rise apartments in metropolitan cities. to which I completely agree as the development and advancement is increasing to make city life easy.

Constructing sky scrapers in large cities are important because due to less availability of land and area for development there is no much sufficient landing to build bungalows or short apartments for example in cities like New York, Delhi, Mumbai ,Sydney as these are very crowed cities there is high demand in housing to which government is fulfilling by creating tall apartments however it is a good considerable option.

High rises provide other advance amenities like community club, infinity pool, gym , terrace garden, play area oriented to pets and children and ground with different courts like cricket, basket ball and other else too with a great view of city from the balcony area and windows is now preferred more by people

as compare to large cottage houses in the city center as apartments are more safer and quite easy to clean and manage . So Due to high demand of apartments and growing population government should pass more projects for further development of the city .Housing area of high rise also getting large due to more preference of joint families of having 4-5 BHK houses.

If we conclude the as per my opinion is it the the best idea to build high towers in the city center to meet the housing need.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of high-rise apartments. The ideas are relevant, focusing on land scarcity and the amenities provided by modern complexes. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of 'joint families' and '4-5 BHK houses' is a specific detail that is not fully connected to the broader argument about city planning. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion is also quite brief and repetitive, failing to synthesize the main points effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or missing. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. There are also issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the run-on sentence in the second paragraph ('...crowed cities there is high demand...'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect the arguments logically. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively utilized to separate distinct points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices or non-standard collocations, such as 'reach up-to the housing need', 'no much sufficient landing', and 'apartments are more safer'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'metropolitan', 'amenities', and 'high-rise', the overall control is inconsistent. Spelling errors, such as 'crowed' instead of 'crowded', also occur. To improve, the student should focus on learning more natural collocations and refining their use of academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability, such as 'Constructing sky scrapers... are important' (subject-verb agreement) and 'If we conclude the as per my opinion is it the the best idea' (syntax and repetition). The use of articles and prepositions is also frequently inaccurate. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of grammatical slips prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. More attention to basic sentence construction and proofreading for errors is necessary.
